It has been about a week now since I first wondered about the content for my first LinkedIn post. I was somewhat serious as I started but after a while I thought, why sweat! Improvise on the go! The battle between the either side continues till the moment.
One of the ideas that I had for the first article was pretty simple- ‘Introduce Yourself.” But then the question arose, “To Whom?” As a majority of the people I am connected with on LinkedIn know me pretty well, and the remaining people are the ones I sent requests because their profiles looked very interesting and people in themselves worth knowing. So, considering both of the cases, I felt, introducing myself would be a futile attempt as no one was going to gain anything as a result.
Writing one of my experiences was another idea I had. This idea came with a challenge and the challenge was to qualify one of my numerous experiences as worth sharing in my first post. There was no reason not to accept this challenge but to compare one experience with another and ranking them seemed somewhat inappropriate.
Third idea was to write something about the ventures I have started up. I spent a significant time on this idea as it might have helped me share my work with those who might engage with the content, but then I thought, since the account is mine and not that of any of my venture's the nature of the post has to be personal and with this thought in mind as I explored further, more and more ideas kept occurring to me; but then to qualify and settle on one particular idea- the task became equally challenging.
“I am confused.” I said to myself as I realized that I was and soon as I realized it I asked myself a basic question: “Why? Why am I confused?”
Most of the times I have observed that one is confused when the objective is not clear and if I am to rely on what I have observed, the only conclusion I could draw was that I did not have a clear objective, and the conclusion was, in fact, the truth. There is nothing that I want to achieve out of my writing.
I do not want to become a celebrity author. I do not want to market myself to attract followers. I have no intention to make my LinkedIn wall ‘the best LinkedIn wall' either. Nothing, really! All that I want to do as I write is to write what I observe and, well, that concludes my first LinkedIn article- on ‘self-observation
